The Refined Pulp Tradition

The 1970s saw an explosion of horror and occult publications, most defined by lurid pulp art—garish colors, sensational headlines, and shocking imagery. Yet a handful of publishers sought to elevate the genre beyond cheap thrills.

R.W. Publishers stood out with their quarterly series, designed as a Time Life–style collection of paranormal case studies. These volumes blended pulp’s dramatic flair with serious investigation, presenting hauntings, cryptids, UFOs, and occult phenomena in a collectible format.

Lillians Diary continues this tradition. Like R.W.’s quarterlies, it transforms pulp horror aesthetics into a serious artifact—an evocative performance piece that bridges sensational art with psychological depth.

The Story

Born in October 1920, Lillian R. grew up in a family of mediums. Her sister, the famous Luna R., was celebrated across the country, but to Lillian she was simply her sister. Childhood was happy, filled with afternoons by the lake with her closest friend, William Hobbs.

On Valentine’s Day, 1932, everything changed. A day of skating and laughter ended in tragedy as the ice gave way beneath them. Lillian slipped into the frozen lake, her hand torn from William’s as she sank into the darkness. His love was gone—or so it seemed.

In 1933, William’s father, Cornelius Hobbs, discovered scraps of paper scattered across his son’s room. Pages filled with entries, dates, and fragments of a diary that seemed guided by something more than William’s own hand. With Luna’s help, the diary was pieced together and printed in a limited run of one hundred copies by Trinity Press. Mediums of the day declared it one of the strongest spiritual texts they had ever encountered.

A Chilling Supernatural Journey

  • Entries shift from William’s grief to Lillian’s voice from beyond
  • Dates reveal hidden passages only Luna could divine
  • The diary becomes a bridge between the living and the dead
  • Read straight through from youthful innocence to spectral revelation

This linear narrative immerses both you and your audience in the fragile bond between William and Lillian—love, loss, and a voice that refused to fade.
